ARAGOSA
60 This yacht was designed for a Japanese client who planned to circumnavigate the South Pacific and, possibly, the globe. The hull was computer designed and lofted, and the frames made by a computer operated cutter to assure top accuracy and fairness. Construction is of aluminum to high standards of strength and durability, with closely spaced longitudinals on transverse frames. She is, indeed, very sturdy as befits a world cruiser. The accommodations offer six private staterooms plus two pilot berths in the saloon. There is a very workable galley with good counter space, ample seating for dining and entertaining, and two heads, including one with a large stall shower/sauna. With the potential to accommodate 11-12 people in privacy, the Aragosa 60 is quite suitable for a first class charter operation. The ketch rig has a relatively small mizzen for maximum efficiency on the wind but still has the advantage of balancing nicely under a wide variety of reduced sail combinations. It is a very versatile rig and one that does not need a large crew to handle it, or require expensive and exotic equipment. Masts are keel stepped for strength and strongly supported. Still, there is no doubt that yachts of this size and class are a world apart from the average cruising yacht. The first yacht built to this design is a standout in any company, turning heads wherever she sails.
