VICTORY VICTORY was designed for a west coast owner who knew exactly what he wanted in the way of a blue water cruiser and a home afloat during extended voyages. The hull is a deep Y section and has proven comfortable and able in heavy going. The stern sections are quite full and so avoid the problem of lack of buoyancy often associated with double-enders. The New Zealand owner of a similar vessel has put 170,000 miles under her keel and claims she is the best yacht of her size afloat. VICTORY's construction features a fibreglass hull, using any of the standard one-off methods (foam core, C-flex, wood strip core, balsa core, etc) and wood decks and house over laminated beams. The first of the design was beautifully built by a talented owner. The cutter rig spreads ample sail for good all around performance and is easily handled by a small, live-aboard crew. The mast is keel stepped for maximum strength and strongly supported by double spreaders and runners. It has proven to be very strong. Flush decks also ease sail handling and provide a wide working platform while her generous freeboard and deep bulwarks keep her dry on deck and the crew aboard under extreme conditions. Below decks she is laid out as a permanent home afloat with roomy owner's cabin aft plus 2 single berths and the settee for guests. There is a spacious U shaped galley, two heads, a separate stall shower, and lots of stowage everywhere. The cruising skipper will appreciate the pilot house with its wet locker, large nav area and off-watch berth, as well as the focs'l with its handy workbench and sail stowage. VICTORY is a proven offshore cruiser, with more than one circumnavigation to her credit. She is definitely a yacht designed for the open sea and far off places.
