WOLF POINT
A 47' Auxiliary Ketch for steel construction
Brewer Design #177

WOLF POINT was designed for a couple who wanted a comfortable, live aboard yacht for a retirement home afloat. Construction is of steel hull and deck with aluminum deckhouse to reduce weight high in the hull. The hull shape is our popular radius bilge that we developed in the '70s. This gives the performance advantages of a round bilge hull along with the simpler construction of a vee bottom type. We have designed many metal yachts, from 30 to 60 feet, using this shape and they have been successfully built by amateur craftsmen as well as small shops.

WOLF POINT's accommodations reflect the owner's requirements, with a very large galley, roomy guest and owner's staterooms and a pilot house containing a convertible dinette. There is generous stowage throughout and the added comfort and convenience of such features as stall showers, washer/dryer, microwave oven, and the inside steering station.

The engine room has ample space for large tankage plus a 6.5 kw generator set and all the necessary equipment, including an Espar diesel cabin heater.

The double headsail ketch rig spreads ample sail area for ocean cruising and will move the WOLF POINT along very nicely. In the calms, the husky Perkins 4-254 diesel engine will drive her at cruising speeds of 7 knots, while a bow thruster will ease docking problems for a short handed cruising crew.

Ample deck storage has been provided in 2 aft lockers, four side lockers and a forepeak locker, all self-draining of course.

As a home afloat, the WOLF POINT packs a lot of living space into her 47 feet while the economies of steel construction allow her to be custom built for little more than the price of a production boat.
